DKSH acquires and merges with the Ai Scientific Distribution Business

01.12.2008 | DKSH today announced they have acquired and merged the Ai Scientific Distribution Division in Australia and New Zealand with DKSH's Australia and New Zealand Instrumentation, Life Sciences and Laboratory Products business.

The acquisition allows DKSH to further its strategic goals both locally and regionally, and provides an excellent fit for its rapidly expanding Instrumentation and Life Sciences business.

DKSH's Instrumentation business has grown both organically and out of acquisitions: The Pro‑Tech Group in 2004 and B.E.S.T. Lab Instrumentation in 2007. These mergers were successfully achieved and the product lines and customer base have continued to grow due to increased investment in resources and marketing.

Ai Scientifics' Distribution Division provided sales, applications and service support to customers in clinical, life science, petrochemical, food, environmental and veterinary markets. It was no coincidence that there were considerable product, market, human resource and capability synergies in the merger of Ai Scientifics' Distribution Division with DKSH.

The business activities are complementary and through combining the skilled resources of both companies the post merger belief is customer development, knowledge management and business growth can be achieved more efficiently than would be possible with both continuing to operate as separate entities.

The merger creates significant value by means of accessing the unique resources within each business and enriching them to the benefit of customers, employees and suppliers. The business model going forward provides for an expanded market presence in human resources, product solutions and geographical coverage creating a stronger and more competitive business activity. The merger elevates DKSH's already strong presence in the Environmental and Life Sciences fields and strengthens its position in the Food, Pharmaceutical, Petro-chemical and Resources sectors.

The merger philosophy was not based on cost synergies and as a consequence all Ai Scientifics' Distribution Division's sales, service and customer service people have agreed to join the new business. With a compliment today of 45 experienced and passionate specialists the expanded DKSH business has significant scale to better solve and serve customers needs and expand the markets served. Additional staff will be hired to further increase the depth of expertise and market reach.

To ensure a seamless transfer of the business all mobile phone numbers for the transferring employees from the Ai Scientific Distribution Division have been retained as have the general phone numbers for the sales and service teams.

The value of the merger to customers and prospective customers is unbounded. A tremendous potential now exists to access unparalleled application and engineering expertise and assurance. DKSH's expanded partnerships and world class product portfolio provides an extensive choice of quality lab solutions and opportunities to package innovative instrumentation, equipment and automation solutions with quality lab, research and process consumables, many of which have their own unique benefits. DKSH's national and international supply chain and logistics capabilities can be utilised to a customer's total advantage. DKSH offices are in close proximity to their customers in Melbourne, Sydney Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland.

DKSH remains ready to further invest in the evolution of the new combined business activity and are enthusiastic about the prospects for growth and continuing to provide customers with great experiences.
